When you think of old consoles, the first game which pops up into many people's head is definitely Mario Kart. It's one of the games which defined that generation and everyone will always remember it as such. However, you should know it's available on the Android platform as well, so let's check it out!

In order to play the game, you need a Nintendo account! After passing the initial tutorial and deciding which controls to use, you are ready to start! You swipe left or right on your screen in order to steer (or drift) but you can also simply tilt your phone to steer. Almost everything you loved about Mario Kart is here: familiar sounds, power-ups, and characters are still there.

You advance by playing cup event with several races until you gather enough stars to unlock the next one. There are some familiar tracks but most of them have been over-simplified. There just isn't enough content in the track itself to keep players entertained. This really has its effect on the gameplay. The kart is driven automatically and you only need to steer. This can feel quite frustrating at times and you often feel it steers either too slowly or too quickly. Items can be used simply by tapping your screen.

Unfortunately, the game revolves around micro-transactions. The game utilizes loot boxes where you can win random rewards. You can also purchase characters and vehicles from the store. That's not all! There is even a monthly subscription that enables access to gold-tier items and a new racing mode! This really takes away the fun and slows down the progress of players unwilling to pay.
